The boat was located in the Venezuelan Atlantic Ocean, approximately 180 nautical miles off a maritime zone near the Orinoco River.

Fishermen working in Venezuelan territorial waters spotted the drifting wooden boat and approached to find the lifeless bodies.

The victims were wearing green raincoats, and orange life jackets were found.

The boat appeared to be propelled by oar, as it did not have an outboard motor.

As of noon on May 29, no family members had come forward to identify the deceased.

The nationality of the victims, whether they were migrants in transit, or their destination are unknown.

The Scientific, Criminal, and Forensic Investigations Corps (CICPC) is working with other law enforcement agencies to determine the identity and cause of death of the vessel's crew.
