Last Wednesday a tourist bus in a curve known as Las Asturias, on the Bogotá-La Vega highway, has left three dead and more than twenty people injured.

In the hours after the tragedy, at least 21 passengers, some of them teenagers, have been treated at three health centers in the area.

The bus, with plates SQW 869 and belonging to the company Exceltur S.A., left from the municipality of Tenjo (Cundinamarca) and was transporting passengers to an event at a hotel, according to local authorities.

Around 11:20 in the morning, at km 55,950 of the road, there was a disastrous accident. A video recorded by a motorcyclist shows how the bus loses control, overturns and flips. Immediately, it falls on his wheels and smokes appears while the passengers try to get out of the vehicle, already deformed by the crash and with broken windows.

Some people were thrown out of the windows.

After the disaster, the department's firefighters confirmed two fatalities at the scene. Unfortunately, a few hours later the death of a third person, C. M. d. N, 72 years old, was reported at the San Rafael de Facatativá Hospital.

Although the exact cause is still unknown, Captain Farfán noted that the driver, who died in the accident, lost control of the vehicle due to possible brake failure, which led to the violent collision against the side of a mountain.

I was glad to read the driver died in the crash but then I read it might have been mechanical failure.. so, I reserve my judgment until a later date~
