Re: Biker Dies by the Wheels of a Shipping Container Truck Turning Left
Go back and look at it again, this time pay attention to detail. You'll see an orange barricade blocking that left lane just past the left turn. The left and middle lane (where the trucks are) both turn left. It allows traffic to enter from a side street just beyond the barricade. The dickwad on the bike either didn't know that or couldn't decide to beat the truck. After the collision, note another bike or 2 go straight in the left lane. It wasn't the truck turning left from the middle lane that was wrong, it was the biker trying to go straight across turn only lanes. |

Re: Biker Dies by the Wheels of a Shipping Container Truck Turning Left
These trucks and buses have a blind spot and its a bad idea to stay in that spot with that sort of proximity. Rules of the road is one thing, but defensive driving/riding helps avoid this sort of accidents. Too bad they dont teach that driving school here.. one just learns that from experience or seeing these videos.

Re: Biker Dies by the Wheels of a Shipping Container Truck Turning Left
Thailand, they drive on the left, so why were both trucks in the second lane?? Left lane is blocked off after the junction specifically to stop people going straight ahead, so why did the trucks turn in the from the second lane? It is not a tight turn, they don’t need to take a bigswing. But, the truck that hit the bike had its turn signals on, though this is Thailand, riders have no brains. They are imbeciles generally. They happily overtake on the brow of a hill, on a blind bend etc. |

Re: Biker Dies by the Wheels of a Shipping Container Truck Turning Left
i don't really think this was anybodys 'fault' but just an accident caused by a series of misfortunes.... there are no signs on the side of the road indicating that both lanes should turn left, also no arrows painted on the road indicating that both lanes are for turning.... the truck had its indicator on, the biker was in a blind spot and that barrier looks like a temporary barrier possibly put up to signal that there are roadworks so mayb he knew the road but didn't expect the barrier to be there..... one thing i will say though is he overtook the truck on the left which while not illegal on an urban road is still not the smartest idea......as he found out |
