Re: Biker Dies Being Hit in the Head by a Flying Wheel

Somebody neglected to have those wheel bearings replaced. Those things scream when they get old, like a bobcat in heat.

It's the only thing that will allow the entire wheel, tire, and break assembly to come off like that.

It's a wonder the driver of the car didn't die as well. Having your frame and spindle hit the pavement at high speeds could have easily caused the car to flip a few times.

When's your luck's out, your luck is well and truly out, it sure was for that guy.

Perhaps I'm missing it but I don't see where the wheel comes from, it comes from out of nowhere and by chance it hits him. It's almost like someone threw it with intent of hitting him it was that accurate!

Ready....aim....FIRE! *whack* BULLSEYE!

Absolutely surreal, here one second gone the next.

Trust it to be a VW - as if killing by emissions poisoning isn't enough!

Hit him so hard his helmet flew off. Never stood a chance.

But charging the driver with manslaughter, c'mon!

I find it interesting that he first checked to see that the bike was still okay, not the rider.

Re: Biker Dies Being Hit in the Head by a Flying Wheel

This is why I tend to do mostly what I want, with little to no fear. I truly think that everyone has a date and time, and if it's not your time or date, you survive. That guy was exactly where he was supposed to be, exactly when he was supposed to be and he died.
Interesting post.
