Bicycle Passenger Dead After Being Hit by a Truck

Vietnam. The one in front was lucky as his student passenger died.

Re: Bicycle Passenger Dead After Being Hit by a Truck

I don't know who's to blame. On one hand, the truck driver should have seen the moped in that instance (it's a given, when in Vietnam that mopeds are everywhere), but on the other hand, if that warning tone was coming from the truck, then the moped should have heard it and thus do a "scan" for potential hazards.

EDIT: Perhaps they're both stupid.

Riding a moped in Vietnam is basically a deathwish

Really? If there are two vehicles travelling in the same direction and in a fairly straight line on a road when is it ever OK for the one behind to drive into, or over, the one in front?

Looks to me like the bike was intending to continue straight and the truck turned right, driving over top of them.

True, but then the truck has limited vision and I'm wondering if that "siren" sound was emitted by said truck, as a warning to say "Hi, I'm a truck and I limited vision so be cautious".

Re: Bicycle Passenger Dead After Being Hit by a Truck

Wouldn't it be cool if every truck on the road had a horn like that? It would drive every MF on the street crazy.
