Beirut Ammonia Nitrate Blast - Unseen - Year 2020 2,750 tonnes of ammonia nitrate fertilizer stored for years in the port's warehouse area. Lebanon's prime minister, Hassan Diab, said chemical fertilizer for agriculture was the cause of the devastating explosion on the capital's population which has so far killed more than 70 people. "A thorough investigation is underway as well as tracing the individuals responsible. Those found guilty until this catastrophe occurs will receive retribution," he said. The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that 73 people were killed, while another 3,700 were injured in the incident. |
