Yes because Eugene Armstrong was solely responsible for the acts of the US government.

Re: The Beheading Of American Eugene Armstrong *Killed By al-Zarqawi*
I hate to bring up an old post, but I’m 35 years old now. My mother showed me this video shortly after it happened. I was 15 if I remember correctly. It literally changed my life. This video has haunted me since I viewed it 20 years ago. Browsing DR and I came across this and I can’t watch it. Won’t watch it. My uncle was deployed at the time and would have coffee with Eugene almost every morning. He had become friends with the man and presumably they were friendly and shared meals whenever they could. When Eugene was abducted and beheaded, my uncle was nearing the end of his deployment. He came home and just never spoke about it. He told my mother, which is why she watched the video. I still don’t know why she showed me. Maybe she just wanted someone to be there with her? I don’t know. But I don’t think humans are supposed to view things like this. It changes you. It changed me. |

Yeah, I don’t know why she showed me this. I still vividly remember the circumstances too. It was about 6:30 at night in the week, so I hadn’t been home from school for too long. The computer was in the great room on a desk and she was just sitting there. She called me over and told me what happened and then proceeded to play the video. I won’t watch the video now but I can play it back in my head easily. I can still even hear him trying to scream through his severed trachea and the fountain of his own blood pouring down it. The audio is what really fucked me up. No joke even to this day at 35 years old I get a tingle on the back of my neck when I walk into extremely dark rooms and empty spaces. I’m not afraid of the dark at all, but the lack of sensory input just makes my “minds eye” replay that video. Even 20 years later. I can see gore and watch terrible videos but I don’t do beheadings at all. Can’t do it. |

Re: The Beheading Of American Eugene Armstrong *Killed By al-Zarqawi*
If it’s any comfort, death by being beheaded is a relatively painless way to die (as long as the knife is sharp). The knife was very sharp in this particular video, so I doubt the deceased felt much pain at all. Don’t let the sounds fool you, the body will fight to live even if mind is not there any longer.
