I'm guessing the guy with the stick was the father / family member of the victims those two guys committed a crime on? Hopefully it wasn't over a bag of potatoes or some stupid shit like that

The number of times that someone has been the victim of vigilante/mob justice and later been proven to be innocent is very high. Personally if it happened only 1 time, that would be too many, but it happens a LOT. Same reason death penalty should be banned. Around 5% of all people on death row are innocent and yet they will be executed by the American government. Vengeance against the guilty is more important to many people than protecting the wrongfully convicted from slaughter.
