The Criminal Court in Daraa Governorate, headed by Judge Counselor “Mohammed Al-Atma” and the membership of Counselors “Ghanem Qanbar” and “Abdul Rahman Fandi”, ruled to execute the defendants in the crime that shook the town of Khirbet Ghazala in the eastern countryside of Daraa and the governorate as a whole, and resulted in the death of the young man “Mohammed Ziad Al-Hajj Ali”.

The death sentence by hanging was issued against the perpetrators, knowing that the ruling is subject to appeal before the Court of Cassation, which is competent to review the legal procedures followed in the case and ensure the correct application of the law, and may decide to either confirm the ruling or amend it, according to a local source familiar with the case to the correspondent of Daraa 24.

The details of this incident go back to the night of August 11, 2024 , when “Hajj Ali,” known for his good reputation among the people of Khirbet Ghazala, was subjected to a horrific murder inside his home, and then the body was transported and thrown in a place on the outskirts of the town.

According to the investigations of the Criminal Security Branch in Daraa, there had been previous attempts to kill the young man, and the crime was carefully planned.

“Mohammed’s” wife confessed to killing him in cooperation with “Ammar Al-Asaad,” who had previously worked in the butcher shop owned by the deceased, before he fired him months ago due to a dispute.

“Al-Asaad” sneaked into the house with the deceased’s wife, and shot “Mohammed” in the head from close range while he was sleeping killing him instantly.

After committing the crime, the two cooperated to move the body and his motorcycle to a place far from the house, in an attempt to hide the evidence of the crime, which suggested that he was killed while heading to the town of Ibtaa, and to make the killing appear to be the result of gunfire by unknown gunmen, like the assassinations that occur daily throughout the governorate.

But the evidence collected, including traces of blood, and the conflicting statements of the wife, revealed the horrific truth.

At that time, many posts spread on social media sites, confirming the good morals of “Mohammed Al-Hajj Ali”, denouncing the ugliness of the crime, and demanding justice.

Meetings were also held in the town of Khirbet Ghazala, in which dignitaries, religious men, and blood relatives of the victim demanded that the authorities hold the perpetrators accountable as soon as possible.


So “Mohammed’s” wife and “Ammar Al-Asaad" were sent to prison and yesterday the death sentence was carried out against "Ammar Al-Asaad" and "Diana", the wife of the murdered "Mohammad Ziad Al-Hajj Ali, Abu Ayser", in the public square in the town of Khirbet Ghazala in the eastern countryside of Daraa, for their conviction of carrying out the murder of the young man "Al-Hajj Ali", after they were arrested after taking control of the prison of the city of Izraa in the central countryside of Daraa by rebels yesterday.
