A BASE jumper attempted a stunt from the top of a dam and suffered a line twist. This malfunction stopped the canopy from being fully deployed and caused the jumper to lose control of his speed and direction while in midair. The BASE jumper collided with the dam wall, causing the canopy to collapse completely (thus preventing any possible recovery of control before landing). He broke one arm and parts of his face during the collision. Because of these conditions, he was unable to land properly and suffered two broken legs and a cracked spine during the second and final collision. The jumper's helmet camera recorded his jump, both collisions, and aftermath until he was able to contact a third party via 'walkie-talkie'. It continued to record him until the third party reached him. He maintained consciousness and made a full recovery in the hospital.

Even if it looked like he was moving slowly, think about it: he jumped hundreds of feet with almost nothing to slow him down, crashed into a cement wall and then fell at least a few more dozen feet before hitting rocks.

The noises he was making in the beginning were probably a combination of pain and him trying to catch his breath. Shock eventually set in and he stopped feeling as much pain but also lost strength.

Below is a picture of what a line twist looks like, and a screenshot of the last frame in the end of the video. It's pretty evident he made it out alive, even without the news article to confirm it.
