Come on...go...to hell. With only a guy on the back of the weight lifter, just like what the video have demonstrated, what can he do when thing happen? Nothing. How come its not 2 body builder holding the 2 end of weight instead? It's "You build up muscle or you die!" kind of arrangement. |

Barely competitive weightlifter here. The spotter was the weak link as mentioned by Madhatter13. Double hooks under the pits is the only way to effectively spot any squat with a singular spotter, especially a 1 rep max. And once the spotter realized he was being ineffective and the weight was not getting re-racked, he should have got the fuck out of the way so the lifter could ditch the bar behind himself, rather than over his neck. I've been lifting for 20 years, never have I ditched any lift over my neck.
