Actually, if you read the article linked by OP, he lived long enough to be transported to hospital and died during emergency surgery. We can only surmise that he suffered at least until losing consciousness.

The double hook technique is garbage. It provides almost zero support as the spotter has to lean forward to assist and cant actually get directly below the weight. The only safe way is with safety bars OR having 2 spotters, one on each end of the barbell so they can easily get under the weight and lift it.
Why people dont use safety bars is beyond my understanding. I workout alone in my basement gym and doing bench press I often go to failure with the safety bars in place. Super simple and safe.

Definitely wouldn’t say it’s garbage and most likely would have saved this dudes life here. You basically hug their rib cage and help them lift it back up. You only need to lift about 20% of the weight or less to get them back up. Wayyyy better than trying to use your arms on the bar like this guy did.

Every 10 or so videos I'll encounter this issue where the video will stop playing either when it finishes playing or as it's playing. anyone know what's going on and how to fix it? This is the error message I get "The media playback was aborted due to a corruption problem or because the media used features your browser did not support." I'm not sure what features Chrome doesn't support on some videos when it supports most videos found on this website without issues.
