It was the police officers. You can see he takes it off his back and hands it to his partner. Obviously he didn’t want is swinging around when he was in the middle of trying to help turn the body over.  |

I knew several case when livor has been set in, it was purple-ish But this one was way darker  |

I've seen heart attacks that have done that, but it probably was livor mortis. It didn't look like his head was touching the ground, so there's no blanching.
