Re: Awesome Apache Attack
You talking black market prices or something? LOL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-114_Hellfire The tactic is sound. They know the Hellfire will give nearly ZERO warning and most likely finish the job in one hit. This keeps the enemy from running away. How hard would it be to hit 5-6 dudes running in different directions at the same time? How much risk of collateral damage would that cause? The 30mm HE rounds are actually moving pretty slow and since there are tracers present, this can actually give the enemy a few seconds warning before impact depending on how far away the gunship is from target and if the energy is looking in the general direction of the helo... |

Re: Awesome Apache Attack
Assuming this was a "terrorist" and not a "freedom fighter" Unfortunently as far as Iraq is concerned, those guys killing american soldiers for illegally invading have every right and justification to do so. The marine's have zero right to have a hate on for them and should respect and love them, the ones beheading and killing in the name of religion are the ones I like seeing getting blown the fuck up. :) |

Re: Awesome Apache Attack
There is a portion of every branch that deals with intelligence, either strategic or tactical. Intelligence is gathered in many difference forms and methods. HUMINT (Human intel), GEOINT (sat imagery), OSINT (open source ie internet), SIGINT (signals intelligence ie cell phones and electronic emissions). Intelligence gathers a profile of a target and any relevant information that is provided or needed. This intel gets passed down to military commanders who then give orders down the chain of command until it finally reaches the platoon leader or the pilot of that Apache. Targets are generally not just picked out of the blue. There is a lot more involved than you think when you see people getting blown up. I was actually applying for a HUMINT position in the Marine Corps but I decided to get out instead.

Re: Awesome Apache Attack
If 51% of the population wants change, and a country invades to help enact that change, then there is nothing "illegal" about it. Soldiers don't get to choose where their Government sends them, and if they "choose" not to listen to said Government, THAT is in fact illegal and the soldier(s) will be prosecuted as such...
