Attempted Electric Cable Thief Ended Up Carbonized
Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil Students at the Federal University of Paraná noticed smokes and flames coming from an underground power structure. When firemen arrived, they found the carbonized body of a man, entangled in the live wires. The network has an estimated voltage of approximately 13,000 volts. A backpack and some personal belongings were found at the scene, but nothing to establish the deceased's identity. It is presumed he entered the underground structure to steal the cables. Information gathered at the scene suggested two people went down the structure. The other person suffered burns to several body parts, but was able to escape before emergency crews arrived. |
