Re: Attacks on Boko Haram

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly overrun a military camp in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, killing a commanding officer and other personnel.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday when the terrorists stormed the military base located in the area.
A local source said the insurgents launched the assault around 12:30 a.m., approaching the town from several directions before targeting the military formation.

“They stormed the town from multiple directions and launched an attack on the military camp,” the source said.
A security source also confirmed that the attackers overwhelmed the troops, set some military vehicles ablaze and made away with ammunition from the base.
“I cannot say much about the casualties, but it’s very sad that we also lost the CO (commanding officer) here,” the source added.

The latest incident comes weeks after troops at the same base successfully repelled an earlier attack by insurgents, reportedly killing several of the attackers.
The response at the time drew praise from residents of the community, with the commanding officer receiving commendations, particularly on social media.
The lawmaker representing Kukawa in the Borno State House of Assembly, Karta Maina Ma’aji Lawan, had also commended the troops following the earlier confrontation.
Reacting to the latest development, the lawmaker described the overrunning of the military camp as unfortunate.
The attack follows another recent assault by insurgents on a military base and an Internally Displaced Persons camp in Ngoshe town in Gwoza Local Government Area, where several soldiers and civilians were reportedly killed.

NOTE: Another source suggested this was backed by the Islamic State. Which would make sense I guess...

Re: Attacks on Boko Haram

Ah okay, so Boko Haram was the attacker.

For a moment, I was like "why should anyone give a shit about Boko Haram being attacked ? They were terrorists a few years ago."

Thanks for the clarification, Flibble.

Why is Boko Haram hated by terrorists? Their live version of Conquistador on their LP album Boko Harum Live: In Concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra released in 1972 was certainly overplayed by mob controlled radio stations, but surely extermination of mediocre, over promoted bands like Boko Harum or post Syd Barrett Pink Floyd isn't the answer!

I think you could safely say that they still are And they're among the worst, if there is such a thing.

Robin Trower is the shit. I think he left the band right before this live version was recorded (even though he played on the original).
