Fractionally too low to hit the heart directly, but the blow would most definitely have hit the descending aorta, especially with the sideways wiggle of the blade as it enters and is withdrawn. Dead within seconds, no doubt. Swords of this type deliver death far more quickly than bullets when aimed at centre mass. |

By the way. a quick look at the wikipedia says that the blade used was Wakizashi, or dosu.

Sure. especially with ball ammo as required by the geneva convention (sp?) but possession of guns is illegal for civilians in Japan, and thus much harder to obtain.
