The Orleans Parish coroner has identified a teenager who was shot and killed during an armed robbery in New Orleans East Tuesday night. The coroner identified the teen as Cecil B., 16.

Cecil and 18-year-old Teony J. (pictured) were shot by a store manager in the 8400 block of the Interstate 10 service road. Police say they entered the business with guns, trying to rob the store before being shot by the manager.

Teony was shot once. He was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Prison on felony armed robbery and gun charges. His bond was set at $170,000.

Cecil was taken to an area hospital, where he later died. Police said the manager, Diaa H., has not been charged in the shooting.

The death of a young punk who would likely go on to cause so much trauma and sorrow to others in his wretched life had he not been ended is always a thing of beauty. But I am alarmed at the "pop gun" stopping power of modern handguns. If that was a .357 magnum or even an old .38 Special from before the roaring 20s, just one shot that hits its mark would probably put that little prick into a prompt state of lights out with minimal writhing and slow dying. On the other hand, it's always good that they get a chance to reflect on their violent, miserable existences as the blood starts to pour like milk inside and out
