Re: Another Video from The Bataclan
I remember when they took away the right for firearms in Australia, we were just like,"Yeah whatever..." Compared to America's outburst to have guns.

Re: Another Video from The Bataclan
1 cop - maybe a swat cop - is on the corner aiming at the side entrance / emergency exit for countering a backdoor escape Some swat members I believe viewing their gear are trying to enter the concert hall by clearing room after room. There was 1 jihadi shooter killed by gun fire I read. |

You sound like someone who doesn't understand the difference between "gun related deaths" and "gun related murders" and just quotes whichever statistic makes it easier to push your agenda.

Re: Another Video from The Bataclan
You don't understand U.S. state and federal laws then. On school property, no one can bring in firearms. Not even licensed individuals (those that have passed background checks, passed performance tests, etc.). One could argue the opposite of what you said: that there are very few, if any, mass shootings at gun-stores, gun-ranges, and gun-shows. Also, there have been many, many incidents of morons beginning a shooting, but armed victims and by-standers quickly intervened. Had they not intervened with their self-defense weapons, perhaps the death toll would have been even greater. We will never know b/c there were good, rational people capable of defending themselves, instead of relying on a 911 phone call and waiting for rescue. Many police and sheriffs throughout the US have said LAW-ABIDING people that are physically and mentally capable of owning firearms HELP deter crime. I believe one of the police captains (or maybe it was the sheriff?) in Detroit said this too...and Detroit is a city with STRICT gun-laws, but a high crime, high murder rate. |

Re: Another Video from The Bataclan
New Zealand, the country where guns are banned but the crime rates are HIGHER compared to the U.S. From property crimes to assaults, batteries, home invasions, theft, sexual crimes and so forth, these crimes are higher in NZ than in the U.S. Murder is higher in the US than NZ, but then again, the U.S. has a much larger population. But, b/c of this, the U.S. should also have a larger crime rate in other categories as well, but it doesn't. NZ has higher rates with the exception of murder. So while you have a higher chance of being shot in the US, you have a greater chance of being assaulted, battered, raped, robbed, car-jacked, home burglarized, etc., etc. in NZ. Compare the crime statistics in NZ to those of the US and you'll find this true. Another fact is that in general terms, the US crime rate as been DECLINING over the years. In certain cities, like Chicago, Detroit, NYC, etc., crime hasn't changed or even increased; but these cities have passed local ordinances to prevent legal gun-ownership!! However, these few cities saw nothing but a spike in criminal activity; while the rest of the country enjoyed a decline in crime. During these same years of an overall decrease in crime, more and more cities and states relaxed their gun-laws and allowed more **law-abiding** people to legally carry. Opponents said relaxing gun-laws would increase crime, but it didn't, as we see in the overall decline in crime in the U.S. over many, many years (with the exceptions of cities like Detroit and elsewhere with city gun-bans that I already covered). So, if NZ is "civilized" with it's higher rates of robbery, theft, assault, battery, rape, vandalism, etc., etc. etc., then I don't want to be civil. Also...why are you concerned with U.S. laws since you don't even live there? You don't live there, thus, you don't have a say in the laws. I don't live in NZ, so would you like me dictating YOUR laws? |

Re: Another Video from The Bataclan
OH man, morons! You make it sound like "Just go to any local gun store and by any gun you want and walk out with it". It' not that easy and you can't carry unless you get minimal training and have a spotless record. If any of those teachers at Columbine would have been armed you don't think things would have turned differently? People need to wise up and realized that if guns were outlawed, crooks and crazies would still be getting them, but much easier. Normal citizens would be sitting ducks, much like they are now. You know how many videos I've seen of some poor bastard working at a convenience store executed and slaughtered? After holding their hands up, giving up the money, and the perp still shooting them as opposed to those clerks with a gun who shot in self defense, or shot back, and lived to tell about it, too many! |

Re: Another Video from The Bataclan
Cultural arrogance won't change anyone's mind on where they stand on the issue of gun laws, I don't care whose side you're on. Make informed decisions and scrutinize media sensationalism before talking about shit you really have no clue about. Being an asshole about it one way or the other doesn't change anything. The laws of the sovereign state will still be there in the end no matter what anyone says. I used to argue about this topic until I realized how much time I was wasting accomplishing absolutely nothing from it. Folks, can we just be respectful of each other's culture and leave it at that? Just saying. |
