I think he was being sarcastic. The problem with everyone having guns is that many of the people supposedly keeping guns to protect themselves end up misusing them in the meantime. Rather than being safer, those keeping guns are statistically more likely to suffer from or cause gun violence.
They unfortunately make it much too easy for someone to make a snap decision and end a life. Someone may be law-abiding with a concealed carry permit for the purpose of safety, but one day they get cut off in traffic and lose their temper. And instead of arguing with the guy in front of them and then walking away, they pull out their gun in the heat of the moment and end one life, while ruining their own forever.
I also disagree with the notion that everyone would easily be able to obtain illegal guns in a well-managed country where they're illegal. England is a great example. There were two terrorists who tried to kill some responding police officers a while back, and the only gun they could procure was so old that when they tried firing it at the officers, it blew the attacker's own fingers off.
I could entertain the position that guns are kept in the U.S. in their current capacity for safety reasons if it was shown that they're keeping us more safe than not, but unfortunately that's not the case.
I say that not as someone who hates the traditions and rights this country was founded on, but as someone concerned about safety above all else. And sadly, we're less safe because of the proliferation of firearms in this country. That doesn't mean we need to get rid of them entirely, but the idea that we can't even entertain revisiting how guns are kept and distributed is just sad, especially when our children are going to be living in an environment where gun violence and mass shootings continue to happen unchecked.
Go back to your safe zone. You have no idea wtf you're talking about. All of the liberal garbage you just spewed is FALSE Hillary.
