Re: American Forth of Joo-ly
You have a good point. There were alot of officers in persuit. I find it hard to fault the officers for the action upto the first shot. However, they were firing for about 8 seconds... If you've ever been in a firefight, then you know... That's a LONG TIME!! To put that into context the suspect was limp and on the ground within the first second and half, and for 6 to 7 more seconds each of the 8 officers needs to basically mag dump to equal anything close to the 100 rounds fired (To be fair they need to fire about 12 rounds each). Like I mentioned above, I cannot reasonably find fault in the first shot or the utilizing of deadly force (even though I still fail to see where any officer was able to achieve the threshold of deadly action - firing a gun at the officers- or deadly intent - pointing a gun at an officer- from the suspect). The actions of the officers have to measured with the totality of the the circumstances. This means taking into account they suspected they were chasing an armed suspect, you must give more leniency to the officer when considering their determination on the use of deadly force. This point is easier to put into perspective. Fear is a powerful motivating factor. It is not unreasonable to believe that the suspect may have been scared of police (for whatever reason you wish to apply). If it's hard to grasp the concept that fear can prevent people from thinking clearly, just look at how half of the United States continues to blame our current president and the other half blame the former president for the countries skyrocketing inflation... But if you look at the issue objectively you will notice that almost every developed nation in the world is experiencing inflation, not just us. Many inflation rates are high than ours... So which president (who get the blame) created the crazy inflation in those countries..? Fear clouds judgment. I find perfectly reasonable that any gender, race, be guilty or innocent could be fearful of dying at the hands of a tired, scared, or frustrated police officer. They see it in the news ALL THE TIME. |

Re: American Forth of Joo-ly
On a side note over 100 rounds fired, and 60 to 70 hit the suspect... Thirty rounds just f-ing missed... In an URBAN Area. If you don't need to shoot (because the the suspect is a block of Swiss on the ground... Then stop f-ing shooting.

Re: American Forth of Joo-ly
Just an FYI, it has been ruled a homicide and the gun was found in the car. As a result his body had 60 bullet wounds. All six officers are on leave and they have till Tuesday 1200pm to turn their selves in.

Re: American Forth of Joo-ly
Ruled a homicide by who? Source? Nothing in any of the articles on the incident indicate as much, unless you're referring to "community leaders" being quoted as saying such. |
