Well done. and I can't believe some would actually believe in their liberal fog minded state that you should shoot to wound. Your not trained that as a police officer and even if they where trained to do that it still puts them in danger. This mind set just proves to the rest of the uninformed world that life is not like the fucking movies or TV. but most that disagree with this have never been in a situation like this and therefore you think you can sit behind you little safe computer in your nice comfortable hole you live in and give an opinion on a real life situation about something you know nothing about.

Now I don't defend police officers all the time especially in today's time when they always stories now about dog shootings. The 15 years I was a police officer I never had to shoot a charging dog but I did have to defend myself from a deranged suspect. walk in their shoes before making dumb ass comments about shooting non lethal areas.

Re: Albuquerque Police Officer Fatally Shoots Hammer-wielding Suspect

Escalation of force.. (non-lethal force gradually moving upwards to lethal force).. Bean bags were used first, they didn't work.

When the suspect was charging the officer with the hammer, the suspect was turning his deadly force towards the officer.. Second officer was there as backup and applied the deadly force to the suspect to save his fellow officer from getting bludgeoned..

Skepticism:
People can say that the subject wasn't running toward the officer with a hammer. They can say that he was running out of the alley, and the officer was in his way because they corralled him in the alleyway.

Fact remains, is that he had a weapon in his hand and displayed possible intent to use the weapon to escape capture.
Basically, if you run at police with a hammer after leading them into a dark alley... you'll probably get shot.
