Re: Albuquerque Police Officer Fatally Shoots Hammer-wielding Suspect
There was never "the days when officers were trained to shoot at non-lethal areas of the body to incapacitate the subject". It never happened. That only exists in your cop hating imagination. Real Life is not like TV or the movies. |

Shoot to stop. Aim for center of mass and shoot until the threat changes. These are the most basic of self defense skills that ANY person should have, not just an officer. It's unfortunate that it happened, but HE chose the way it went down, not the officers.

Re: Albuquerque Police Officer Fatally Shoots Hammer-wielding Suspect
Apparently 90% of the people here have absolutely NO clue that all police are trained to shoot center mass (chest) to incapacitate people. They are also under the impression that when you're about to be killed by someone and get a massive adrenaline dump (which makes you shake horribly) that you can pull off arm and leg shots (to a moving person no less) so the person doesn't die. Simply put, there's a whole lot of idiots on here. |

Shoot in the leg?? This isn't the movies where leg shots instantly stop people and they fly back 10 feet. If you were a police officer, you'd have been dead long ago. |

Re: Albuquerque Police Officer Fatally Shoots Hammer-wielding Suspect
He should have just shot the hammer out of his hand and he would have surrendered immediately. I have seen just that sort of thing in countless Western movies. Done by, you know...actors...pretend sheriffs...fake cowboys...make believe gun slingers...in fantasy stories on the screen made up by script writers' imaginations. So why can't cops do it when their lives are on the line...in REAL LIFE? As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a Maroon!". |
