Re: Airport Employee Dies by Touching an Electric Fan

I fucking hate people today. Completely unaware of their surroundings. It's hard to believe the coworker did not notice the contorted body with the purple face right in front of him when he walked away. No one is that fucking clueless right?!

Re: Airport Employee Dies by Touching an Electric Fan

Someone explain electricity, and why this guy got shocked by a fucking fan, and then why the other guy that released him didn't get shocked the same way?
So, the fan has got a fault on it and the metal has become live. No problem - it will just sit there minding its own business, unless someone gives it a path to earth. Thats what happened to the victim - the electricity entered his body through his right arm and exited through his right leg.
The guy who comes to help touches the victims body, but he isnt touching anything connected to earth. I presume his shoes are rubber or similar.
IF the helper had touched the victim AND the metalwork, the electricity would have had a new path to earth.

So if the guy that stepped in was barefoot, he would've been toast?

Always turn a fan on with the back of your hand like a spasmo. Just in case
