A clarification: OP has fallen in the trap of a false cognate Agonizar (SP) is a false cognate of Agonize (EN) Agonizar in Spanish means someone is having his last breaths (Is already dying). You will see many a Spanish speaker translate Agony as Agonía and both mean different things in Spanish and English (EN) Someone in agony is in great pain (SP) Someone in agonía is dying  |

But nothing prevents someone from being in agonía and in agony at the same time, as when a heavy trailer cuts a person in half and the entrails are smeared all over the road.
