In Campo Mourão, Paraná state, Brazil, 23-year-old Marcela T. was shot in the head at the convenience store where she worked. She was shot by a man who had arrived at the store on a motorcycle.

Marcela had recently been shot in another attack in the city centre, alongside a young man who became a paraplegic as a result.

The blood wasn't coming from just one major artery feeding the brain, it was coming from all of them.

It looks like the bullet passed through her orbital socket and severed the right internal carotid artery near the Circle of Willis. Disruption of the circle would cause any blood being pumped through a major vessel to flow directly into the skull. After that, it just flowed through the path of least resistance--mainly the nostrils.
