that is a win-win situation; they even might take out a few soldiers, plus all civilians killed add to the civilian death toll. so it is very strategic to arm civilians and give them a sense of purpose

Molotov cocktails worked against tanks in the Winter War in Finland, but I guess that weakness has been patched in the last 80 years.

It worked in WW2 because tanks at the time often had exposed exhausts. That is not the case with modern tanks however, a molotov cocktail does absolutely nothing to a tank these days. If its a cheap tank-killer you want, RPG-7 is the answer.

No shit. And unless a tank is sealed for Chem warfare then gas or whatever flammable liquid can definitely come in through vents etc. Yeah today's tanks are much more advanced (obviously) than tanks from ww2. Yet they're not full proof and trying to stop one with an RPG7 is marginally better than a molotov...distance wise at least. Either way you need to hem the tank in. Shooting at one unless you're another tank in open terrain is not optimal to say the least.

Those Molotovs could have actually blackened the paint on those Russian tanks. Not sure if that kind of damage was worth getting killed for
