Aftermath of Massacre at Spa Resort in Guanajuato, Mexico
At least seven people were killed, including a 7-year-old child (who is not depicted in either the video nor photos), when a group of gunmen stormed a resort teeming with vacationers in central Mexico on Saturday. An eighth person was seriously injured in the mid-afternoon shooting — which took the lives of three women, three men and a child — near the pool at the La Palma resort in Cortazar, a small town south of the city of Guanajuato. The suspects began opening fire indiscriminately 4:30 p.m., before destroying the resort spa store and taking the security cameras that captured the horrifying mass murder, officials said. Mexican officials were using a helicopter to search for the attackers after the fled the scene on Saturday, but so far no arrests have been made. It was not immediately clear who was behind the shooting, though in recent years rival drug cartels have gotten into skirmishes in the state. Cortazar has been under the control of the Santa Rosa de Lima cartel, or CSRL, for at least nine years. It is believed the massacre may have been committed by the rival CJNG, in order to force authorities to tighten security in the area and make it more difficult for CSRL to carry out their activities. It is also possible that CJNG commandos detected the presence of CSRL members at the resort and decided to go after them, killing innocent people without any criminal ties in the process. |

The same 6% that commit 50% of all murders shot up the birthday party. Without them the US murder rate would be similar to western europe.

This is not a foreign tourist destination…this is akin to a community pool for poor locals. Not saying they deserved it…but it isn’t a reason to not vacation in a nice area in Mexico.
