I give you some context: A few days later, on November 4, the TPLF attacked military bases of the national army in the Tigray region. A senior party official called it a "preemptive strike." "The last red line has been crossed," said Abiy Ahmed, who then ordered the military offensive, starting the war. "We want to send a message to the people of Mekele [capital of Tigray]: to be safe from artillery attacks and get rid of the leaders of the Front. Afterwards there will be no mercy," declared the Army spokesman. |
