Agonal breathing is awful to watch (& hear). All you can do is just wait for the end.

I was with my mom and the last 6 hours of her life was all Cheyne-Stokes (agonal) breathing. I know it was harder for me than it was for her, but she truly looked to be suffering.

It is hard to watch. Doctors often prescribe morphine for the dying to ease their breathing. Well, actually it depresses the central nervous system & your body more or less 'forgets' to keep breathing. Yay for euthanasia.

My mom wasn't conscious. We knew she was dying, we just didn't dream it would take that long.
