Chihuahua state police arrested eight men in connection with the kidnapping and slaying of Mario Angel Gonzalez Rodriguez, the brother of the former Chihuahua state attorney general.

His body was found half-buried in a house under construction in Chihuahua City after one of the men told officials where they could find him, federal police Commissioner Facundo Rosas said at a news conference.

Gonzalez, a lawyer, is the brother of Patricia Gonzalez Rodriguez, who left office when a new governor took over.

Police allege that the men worked for the Sinaloa drug cartel, which has been battling the Juárez drug cartel.

The men were identified as Luis Alberto López Rodríguez, 31, alias "El Luis"; Martín Morales Soto, 43, alias "El Viejito"; Rubén Eduardo Jacobo Larrea, 20, alias "Pinky"; Jesús David Rendón Villela, 20, alias "El Badu"; Víctor Hugo Villegas Espino, 27, alias "M2"; Alonso Velarde Lizárraga, 33, alias "El Alonso"; Israel Zaragoza Elenes, 31, alias "El Zorrillo"; and Luis Miguel Ibarra Castellanos, 22, alias "El Cora."

Mexican Federal Police arrested the men after one of them, Castellanos, told police where the others were hiding, officials said. They were inside a house in a subdivision of Chihuahua City, a report said.

Police raided the house, arrested the men, confiscated weapons and cars and freed two people who had been kidnapped, the report said.

Officials said the men allegedly tortured Mario Gonzalez in the house by using a stick to strike his ankles and the balls of his feet.

The group did this before they videotaped Gonzalez confessing that he and his sister worked for the Juárez drug cartel, according to the report.

The video shows five of the men dressed in military fatigues, wearing black masks and intimidating Mario Gonzalez with high-powered rifles during his 10-minute confession.

During the video, Gonzalez said that he and his sister provided protection for La Linea, or the Juárez drug cartel. He said she ordered several murders, including the 2008 murder of El Diario de Juárez reporter Armando Rodriguez.

The video was later posted on YouTube.

Patricia Gonzalez Rodriguez denied the allegations.

One day after Mario Gonzalez made the video, the men killed him with a make-shift tourniquet made out of a piece of rope and a stick, the report said. Then, the men loaded him into a gray truck and buried him on the outskirts of the city, the report said.

The war between the cartels has left more than 6,700 dead in Juárez since 2008. Mexican drug cartels use propaganda via the Internet, graffiti on walls and banners that are displayed in public.

Couldn't find any other info on what has happened to them since capture.

This is why I don't care when one cartel executes members of another; they are all sick sons of bitches. It's rough when civilians get involved though, nobody deserves that who wouldn't inflict that on people themselves.

Are you sure? The info I posted is from the same case that is being quoted in the OP.
