No, I think they were just checking to see if he was not faking since if you threw an object at someone while they're sleeping/faking they move since the body reacts to the impact.

I remember watching this video right after it happened. I love most suicide vids, but this one is BORING. Attention whore ODs on webcam and goes to sleep  If he knew he was gonna die and planned on doing it so everyone could see, he should have had the damned common decency to go out in a spectacular manner. Guns are fun and messy, hangings could be fun(as long as they're continually facing the camera, which may be a bit tricky) and I still haven't gotten to see anyone attempt a self-beheading...but I bet it would be pretty exciting
