When you're fully loaded ( I'm sure that truck was ) and going around 55-65 mph even with full air and cold brakes it's going to take a while to stop. You have to use the brakes on the trailer to stop or else you will jack knife. Gearing down and or using the Jake brake won't do shit either. That's why you have to anticipate your stopping distance well in advance of your stopping point. My opinion is the guy wasn't paying attention to his air gauge and when he wanted to slow down it was too late. He should've ran it off the road like gimlet said. |
