Well, a desert eagle is a .50, but it's h handgun. so the speed and momentum of the bullet is much lower than a .50 long range rifle. The rifle projectiles are supersonic and will easily blow off your arm, 'caus your arm isn't protected against anything. a .50 handgun will "only" make a big hole!

the desert eagle round does go supersonic. and so can some 9mm loads.

what blew this poor persons arm off wasnt just the speed at which the projectile was traveling but also its size.
