5 Year-old Boy Gets Tangled in Huge Kite and Falls to His Death
A 5-year-old Vietnamese boy's tragic death was captured in a horrifying online video when the young child was lifted into the air by a giant kite and then plummeted 65 feet to the ground. Van Minh Dat's legs were caught in the ropes when an enormous kite featuring the flag of Vietnam was raised in the air. The video documents the agonizing screams of spectators when they realized what happened and then when the boy broke loose and fell to the ground in the Dong Dieu section of Ho Chi Minh City Sunday afternoon. The giant kite was being prepared to be flown for a kite festival in the seaside city of Vung Tau. But the child was underneath the 60-foot-wide kite and no one saw him. When it was raised in the air, Dat, whose legs were tangled in the strings, went airborne as well. Witnesses tried to free him, but it was too late. The strings eventually became untangled only after he was high in the air and then fell. He was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries, the newspaper reported. Police are investigating the incident. |
