5 Killed when Car Rams a Truck Head-on During Police Pursuit

A fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of September 21 on the federal highway near the village of Biliktuy, Russia. Previously, the traffic police noticed a foreign car driving at high speed and started to pursuit the car.

The driver of the Toyota ignored the police stop sign and tried to flee, repeatedly making dangerous maneuvers. When overtaking a truck, the car drove to the side of the road when the driver lost control. The car ended up into the lane for oncoming traffic, where it collided with a Mercedes truck.

As a result of the collision, the driver and four passengers of the foreign car died on the spot. Four of them were thrown from the car at impact. The arrived doctors recorded bruises and abrasions on the truck driver, but the man refused hospitalization.

The identities of the victims are being established. According to preliminary information, they are all men. Police is investigating why they were speeding and fleeing.

I have driven in Russia. Most of the driver speed with impunity. The police are a bunch of corrupt individuals making a living by extorting the people they serve.
