I understand and appreciate all of that in the abstract. It just doesn't move me in any way. It didn't happen to me so why should I care? If I somehow got involved in a situation of that sort I would try to do the "right" thing, but it would be from a sense of duty (a la Kant) rather than from an emotional reaction.
