Thanks for bumping this, from before I joined DR or I never saw it. I can't think of much worse than being impaled, except fire. You are injured, but unlike a stab wound, the foreign object is still there, pins you immobile and you suffer excruciating pain if you move. Guess that's why Vlad used it...
