20 Killed, 40 Injured at Train Station in Egypt's Cairo
The train went off the rails and caught fire near the Ramses station in the Egypt capital, according to the portal Masravi. According to preliminary information, the train left the depot and was travelling at a high speed when it slammed into a covered platform. The collision caused a fiery explosion; the inferno spread to one of the buildings at Ramses Station. According to Sky News Arabia, at least 10 people lost their lives and 20 were injured as a result of the incident. The state TV reported that 20 people have been killed and 40 others wounded. The death toll could be much higher. According to other sources the death toll may be less. The fire spread through Cairo's central railway station. People reportedly suffered carbon monoxide poisoning as they couldn't leave the platform and the station during the panic. Security officials have partially closed the entrances of the train station, according to Ahram Online news portal. Ambulances and firefighters are at the scene. The central train station in Cairo has been evacuated, the rail services near the station have been temporarily suspended. |

Re: 20 Killed, 40 Injured at Train Station in Egypt's Cairo
A major explosion and subsequent fire at Cairo’s main train station Wednesday was caused by a fight between two train drivers, according to local officials. At least 25 people were killed and more than 40 injured when a locomotive crashed through the station barriers at speed, colliding with a fuel tanker, causing the fire and explosion. Tthe driver of the train had been arguing with a fellow train driver at the time of the accident. Prosecutor General Nabil Sadek said the driver had earlier been blocked by the driver of another train, and upon entering the station, he left his locomotive to continue the argument, without stopping the train or engaging the breaks. “The driver left the railcar without taking any measures to brake it,” Sadek said in a statement. Bet that's going to be the death penalty. |

There are 4 or 5 flaming people in the background of the first video. At 13 seconds, a flaming person runs past holding a briefcase or bag. Don't try to extinguish the flaming guy on the stairs, just dodge him! |

Imagine that. One minute you are waiting for your train, like any other day, then suddenly you are on fire head to toe, realizing that 'this is probably it'. |

It looks like some kind of fuel storage tank was ruptured and then sprayed the crowd as it was ignited. Damn. That guy on the stairs. Sucks to be him.

I like that one couple late in the first video. Everyone else is running from the scene of the fire, including a flaming man who goes right by them. They, however, calmly ASCEND the stairs TOWARDS the inferno: "We mustn't miss our train, dear."
