Re: 2 Oil Well Drilling Rig Employees on Fire and Die After Explosion
Workover rig. Looks like an uncontrolled well head/BOP that they were trying to shut in that caught fire. I don’t know about the description of a “process engineer” that performed work on the rig. That doesn’t make any sense. (I work for an oil company In the field now). That’s a shit day when things go wrong.

He was doing exactly the smartest thing he could do. Unless he was the engineer responsible. Then fuck him!

He was probably the engineer, and all he did was say to himself: "I'm screwed!"

Re: 2 Oil Well Drilling Rig Employees on Fire and Die After Explosion
I understand your point, but would suggest not using the word "evil" as it has religious connotations. Without God there is no "evil" (in a moral sense -yes I know there is the expression "natural evils"). There is suffering and death galore, but no "evil." Of course there is the alternative that "evil" is purely subjective, with each person deciding on his/her own what is "good" and what is "evil". In the end that amounts to the same thing, however in that there is no objective evil.
