PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A chaotic crime scene ended with one motorcyclist shot to death, and the alleged shooter being hit and killed by a driver who witnessed it all unfold late Friday night.

Phoenix police were called to the shooting just before 11 p.m. off of Interstate 17 and 7th Avenue. Investigators say two motorcyclists were stopped at a red light when a fight broke out, leading to one man shooting the other.

The motorcyclist who was shot was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Police say a third man witnessed the shooting and hit the alleged shooter with his car. That driver was detained for questioning and later released pending further investigation.

The suspected shooter also died at the hospital, investigators say. Neither motorcyclist has been identified at this time.

Due to the active crime scene, investigators have shut down 7th Avenue north and southbound off of the freeway. Drivers cannot get onto the freeway from the area and must use the access road.
