Colombia. Last Thursday 24 year old Ubiellys Patricia G.R, a civil engineer that graduated last year, was fatally hit by Javier A.L.J, 31, a systems engineer that rode his green Kawasaki Z800 at high speed into her. Both died.

The young woman had barely completed a year in her first formal job as a civil engineer. Her colleagues describe her as disciplined, responsible, and always smiling. “She loved what she did and was full of plans,” one of her colleagues tearfully recalls.

Residents of the area where the tragic accident occurred say this isn't the first time such a tragedy has occurred. "This happens every week.

You don't know whether to go out at night because the motorcycles take over the road," said one resident, who asked not to be identified for fear of reprisals.

Javier was in a common-law marriage and leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter.

The relative explained that Javier had recently started working as a systems programmer and was very happy.

He tried several times to sell the motorcycle he had crashed on, but a firm deal never materialized. "For him, his motorcycle was everything. It was his dream come true, because while others dream of owning a car, he always dreamed of owning that motorcycle," commented a friend of the engineer.
