If you dive wrong you can get slaped in the face or under the jaw by the water and you out for the count. If you hit water fast enough it will not move out of your way as fast. Thats why when high speed boats crash its like they are crashing on concrete. SAme goes for skimming a stone.

From a mathematical point of view, it is impossible that they died from height and speed. The equation made sense, but I won't discard the possibility of debris or something underwater. But my final thoughts are that this is fake. Go to Acapulco, and watch some people dive from distances way higher than this and is part of entertainment.
