14 Killed, 33 Injured when Bus Drives into 200 Ft Deep Precipice
Sri Lanka, A rock that had fallen onto the road was one cause for the fatal bus accident today which claimed the lives of 14 people and left more than 30 people injured. The contractor involved in road development had to remove the rock from the road, however, the delay in doing so had attributed to the accident. 13 women, 15 men and 5 children were injured in the accident and 4 of them are in critical condition, said Police. The driver of the passenger bus that skidded off the road and fell into a precipice of more than 200 ft, survived the accident, said Police. Moments after the accident took place, a body was recovered from the driver’s seat and it was initially believed it was the driver, however, later it was revealed he was not the driver. The driver of the bus is currently receiving treatment in hospital, he added. According to investigations, the accident took place at a double-bend area along the road, he said adding a tipper truck coming in the opposite direction to give way for the bus. However, it was observed the driver of the bus had lost control of the wheel, resulting in the tragedy. Further, the bus is to be subjected to a technical investigation as well. Army troops engaged in rescue operations, together with Sri Lanka Police and residents. Reports suggest, salvage teams will not be able to raise the bus out of the precipice today and the process would require more time. |

The Bus driver should be shot.. Going around a blind corner at that speed.. The truck was already first in the narrow passage and the bus driver tried to force it  |

Oh my god, that poor bus driver. A mad man planted a bomb on the bus, the driver had to keep the speed above 50mph or BOOM... poor people  |

Wait so truck isn’t at fault at all? The truck had to leave its lane to go into oncoming lane. The truck should have waited until oncoming lane had no vehicles to then invade their lane to go around the fucking rock fall. Unbelievable to blame the bus driver. If anything the bus driver over reacted and swung left. He could have possibly hard braked and then deal with either the truck reverses or the bus reverses to allow the other a safe passing. Terrible shit. This was 100% avoidable. Who ever is in charge of the rock removal will be paying up. |
