At least 12 people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident involving a commercial mini-bus and a trailer at Nkenkensu in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region.

The accident occurred in the afternoon on the Kumasi-Techiman highway when the commercial passenger vehicle, travelling from Kumasi to Techiman, collided head-on with an oncoming trailer heading towards Kumasi.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the mini-bus reportedly attempted to overtake another vehicle but veered into the lane of the approaching trailer, resulting in the fatal crash. An eyewitness also noted that it took more than an hour before an ambulance arrived at the scene.

Medical personnel at the Nkenkensu Government Hospital confirmed that 12 passengers were pronounced dead on arrival, while two survivors sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving treatment.
