I just found a report today (11-21-23) that the authorities in Belgium known as "DOVO", who are the official government department responsible for recovering and disarming bombs and shells from WWI AND WWII in Belgium, received over 3600 calls in 2019, from residents (mostly farmers plowing their fields) who had discovered artillery shells or bombs from the wars. DOVO processed over 200 TONS of explosives in 2019 alone. So that is probably over 500 tons of bombs they recover, deactivate, and dispose of. Some of those were gas shells, still potent and ready to release gas charges, such as Mustard Gas, etc. Belgium is a TINY country, yet they are still finding these explosives all over! |
