10 Gang Members Got Killed After Shoot Out with Police
Sunday Sept. 3 in a neighborhood in São Paulo, residents lived minutes in fear when thugs and civilian police clashed. It was an intense shootout in 3 neighborhood streets. Who were these men? What happened on that day? It happened in one the most noble and well-known regions of São Paulo, the headquarters of the São Paulo government and mansions protected by walls, electric fences and security cameras. The gang was surprised by policemen when leaving a mansion of a businessman around 7:30 p.m. Three adults and one child were inside the house robbed by the criminals - a luxury residence, without a wall. After the first exchange of shots with police, part of a gang tried to flee in two cars. The first, silver and armored, hit a pole a few yards later. The police shot, also with rifles. Five assailants died. The second, red Fiat car, was hit by an unidentified police car. The three thugs died. Two others fled on foot and were killed by police officers in neighboring streets. Three policemen were injured during the confrontation. According to police, nine members of the gang and their leader died: Misael Pereira Bastos, known as Sassá. Only in 2017, until July, the 2 police stations in the that neighbourhood, in the south of the city, recorded almost 4,000 thefts and robberies. That's 18 a day. And that Sunday, the most violent of them occurred. The gang robbed banks, blew up ATM's and robbing businesses and people. Sassa's body was lying on his stomach, next to a cell phone near the red Fiat. A victim of a robbery in the area recognized the sneakers that Sassá wore, Lacoste brand, as her father's. According to police, Sassá had managed to escape from other major attacks. The last of them at dawn on August 2: an assault on a bank branch in, which ended with 4 suspects killed, as well as two prisoners and two fugitives. Felipe Macedo de Azevedo, a.k.a Miojo, was also identified as one of the dead in the shooting. The others are: Edmilson José Rocha, Jeferson Souza de Melo, José Aldo Martins de Souza, Diego Ferreira da Silva, Paulo Ricardo Sena Matos, Lucas Augusto da Silva, Paulo Alberti Mauriti da Costa and Rodrigo Kaique Evangelista dos Santos. |

Re: 10 Gang Members Got Killed After Shoot Out with Police
How does Brazil's crime rate compare to ours? I wish more American shootouts would be recorded and put on the internet. Anyone willing to go into the hood and video record for a week?
