that is my neighbor. as i understand it, someone tried to steal her purse but she wouldn't let go of it so they cut her fingers off to get it. the police had a suspect and asked her if she could identify her assailant in a line up but said she couldn't point a finger at anyone.

previously an employee of Finger Hut, she is now retired and collects social security. to supplement her meager income, she often shopped where she could get a five finger discount. however, she lost her discount along with her purse and says life for her has become completely pointless. she went on about how unhappy she is because she will now have to rely on public transportation and pay bus fare since her days of thumbing rides were recently cut short.

she is also upset because the old fart she was seeing had proposed to her last night presenting her with an engagement ring. "wtf am i suppose to do with that?" she said. "wear it in my nose?". to make matters worse, she realized she couldn't even give him the finger or even a thumbs down on his poor taste in presenting her with something that could only be considered useless in her situation.

"well, he can say he let me slip through his fingers but when the right man comes along, you can bet he won't slip through mine" she told me as she exited the door. she was on her way to play poker at the casino. i didn't have the heart to tell her she was throwing away her money because even if she played all day and all night, she was never going to have a good hand or even a half way decent looking hand for that matter.
