Skip the info/story for pics. I go into detail... sorry.

Initial info on my surgery
Tuesday, May 30th, 2013.
Had gone to the Emergency Room for pain in my abdomen that started the day prior.
Was to the point I could barely walk, so I knew it was time to go.
Urinalysis, Blood work, then had to drink a bottle of berry flavored isotope and go to get a Cat Scan. lady was prepping the I.V. machine with more isotope to be force injected into my blood stream, exploded, did it again with success and me in anxiety.
she then had me drink more of the isotope, and forwarned me she was going to give me an isotope enema... fun stuff. got the CT scan, felt like I was being microwaved like a burrito from the forced injection of isotope. sent back to E.R. .. doc comes in, calls surgeon....off I go. laparoscopic surgery to remove my Appendix.

Does surgery, three incisions, successful.
I wake up in the I.C.U. due to it being late and recovery is closed, had a panic attack, spazzed and fought the nurse, calmed down...sent to my room in the hospital.
Comes in, explains to me my aftercare.
Was told, when I am sent home following day (Yes, overnight stay for appendix and you go home!), get a shower, put soap and water on the band aids, remove them, and put soap and water on the wounds, do not remove steri-strips let them fall off on their own. see him in a week. Did all that. No problems for about a week and a half.

Then the problems started
A week and a half after my surgery, the wound on my right side over the appendix started turning red, and I could see something was going on. figure was just a small infection. clean it, no worries. Been down this path before with post-op stuff. started putting bandages on it after I would bathe or clean it. at first used band aids. were used at hospital... sure why not?
Friday June 14th gets here and the band aid idea was bad, making it sweat etc so. took it off. stopped doing that, switched to post-op sponges and medical tape.
Saturday, take the bandage off that night, looked at wound, was white/grey in the inside kind of.
So? I try to spread it a little bit...
And found out the hard way, it's all dead flesh and I now have an open wound! yay!

So these were Saturday the 15th when I finally realized..
Oops.. I got a new Belly Button. Eh? Not too bad huh?

First two pics were from Saturday the 15th. the rest were from Sunday the 16th.
went to E.R. on the 17th, sent me back to my surgeon.
Following day, seen him, said the dehiscence was due to my body rejecting the sutures/dermabond.

He didn't close the wound back up, knew he couldn't so no big deal.
Removed the suture that was still left there.
My instructions : Just soap/water in shower. keep it dry and bandaged and resume regular activity.
Will heal on it's own in 10-14 days.

It's always something isn't it? Good luck healing. I go for a liver biopsy on thursday don't know what that will entail. They say I need a driver so should mean some good drugs.

I take it the surgery was done before your appendix burst? well, if you are at a party and things start getting slow, you can always start up a conversation with that...

"I had an attached twin brother. I was attached to my mother through my umbilical cord and my brother was attached to me through his umbilical cord right here." watch their faces as they try to figure that one out.

or simply ask them if they want to see your new body modification. tell them its a reverse bump implant.

you will most likely be surprised at how many gullible people there are in this world.

years ago at a grocery store while the girl was ringing up my groceries for whatever reasons I casually said "i'm so nervous. tomorrow I have to go to the hospital and get my neck amputated." she looked at me a bit confused and said "really?"

They knock you out, why you need the driver, anesthesia, you'll be groggy.
Small incision, and long needle that takes a small piece of the liver. I was to go for one years back.

Had the hospital/surgery ordeal last year around the same time with a post-op infection from Cubital Tunnel release. (Spent Father's day in the hospital last year, My Daughter was only 3 months at the time, was looking forward to spending the day with her.)
Luckily it was just plain Staph and not it's big bad brother MRSA.

As for the Appendix itself.
I caught it in time before it ruptured, woke up on Wednesday May 29th, sour stomach/heartburn, day progressed and felt worse, by night was in a lot of pain, thought it was bad gas.
Woke up on Thursday, could barely walk, knew it was time for the E.R. .
I had a friend who had his rupture thinking it was gas, he walked for 3 days like that after it burst on him. lucky he is still alive. The gassy feeling was the give away for me, knowing what he went through.
(He spent 2 weeks in the hospital on I.V. antibiotics with his...no thanks...lol)

I had mine burst too fucking painful I went 7 days without going to get looked at,I thought I had the flu I was 12 at the time. When I finally went the doc said I was an hour away from death,I also spent 2 weeks in the hospital.

7 days...that's insane, you were a kid at the time..so probably didn't know better...
Mine didn't rupture, but I'd imagine even in good health at that young of an age it would have hurt enough for me to have gone to the E.R. ...
Guess after it ruptures the gassy pain feeling goes away, but that infection is why you felt flu like...probably worse than flu I'd imagine. Good to hear you got through it.

yeah at first it sucked but the nurses were hot to ok looking and I had all 3 return of the living deads to watch over and over again.
