Re: Woman Almost Died From Unborn Twin's Fingernail or Hair in Bloodstream
Anyone into country music, (I listen to almost all genres), knows Joe Nichols. His wife had 5 miscarriages before carrying their daughter to term. Her body rejected the babies as foreign bodies. Someone may know the term. I don't recall it. She had to get needles during the entire pregnancy, flying from Arkansas to Texas each time, but, they do have a healthy, beautiful little girl, who recently turned one year old. Mom, Heather, went through Hell to keep her baby |

Re: Woman Almost Died From Unborn Twin's Fingernail or Hair in Bloodstream
*QUOTE* Their mother, Angela Cottam, almost died after a suspected fingernail or hair from one of them passed into her bloodstream during their birth. Mrs Cottam almost died after a suspected fingernail or hair from one of them passed into her bloodstream. I wonder if she almost died from a suspected fingernail or hair from one of them into her bloodstream? |

They wanted to make a point Some of these stories do a little recap of the story before the actual story. No clue why. Actually, I do have a clue. Some people are stupid! |

Re: Woman Almost Died From Unborn Twin's Fingernail or Hair in Bloodstream
Here is Heather Nichols' story in her words: Joe Nichols’ wife shares her story of 5 miscarriages Sara McGinnis May 31, 2012, 4:21 pm Joe Nichols and wife Heather are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl named Dylan River, but their journey to welcome a child was anything but pretty. Until now the couple’s struggle with multiple miscarriages was kept a secret, but today Heather is sharing her story. “I’ve always wanted to be a mother,” Heather Nichols writes for her blog at, "More Than a Nichols Worth". “Growing up, out of all of my friends I was the one that didn’t care about college or a high powered job. All I ever wanted was children.” The new mom, who met Joe Nichols at the age of 19, continues, “After my first miscarriage, the doctors informed me 1 in 4 women would suffer a miscarriage and that if I got pregnant again we had every reason to believe all would be fine. After miscarriage number 2, I knew something had to be wrong.” After being put on clomid and undergoing IVF Heather Nichols found out she was pregnant again, but soon miscarried. A change of doctors and Heather discovered she has “an autoimmune response to pregnancy. My body actually fights off a pregnancy like it would a cold or a virus.” Yet despite all of the treatments for her condition, she went on to lose her fourth pregnancy. More tests and diagnosis of a thyroid condition later, Heather Nichols became pregnant for the fifth time — a full two years since first trying. She writes: At this 9 week appointment, we saw a beautiful baby but no heartbeat. My husband and I were devastated. This was my lowest point I think because I was doing everything I could do. My stomach was black and blue from the heparin shots, my arms were sore from the constant bloodwork, but my heart was in the worse shape of all. If this news wasn’t bad enough I had to do a D&C because the pregnancy like my first one had gone too far to pass naturally. After the surgery I felt robbed. My baby was gone along with my spirit. After each baby I would allow myself one day to cry but this 5th one I couldn’t stick to that. From my first miscarriage an ever growing feeling of shame had developed in me and by this time it had taken over my thoughts. I would constantly think about the growing reality in my mind that I would never have the one thing I wanted in life the most. After another round of doctors and new treatments, Heather and Joe Nichols spent a year trying to conceive again. “Lo and behold, a couple weeks later I walk into the kitchen where my husband was and said for the 6th time those two words that had brought us both so much joy only to leave us with so much pain, ‘I’m pregnant!’” Though she would “almost hyperventilate with fear” at every appointment, Heather first made it safely to 9 weeks, then 12 and beyond. At seven-months along the couple announced the pregnancy to the public, and Dylan River Nichols was born at 38 weeks, weighing 7lbs 5oz on April 17, 2012. “Our prayers have been answered,” Heather is quoted as saying after her daughter’s birth. “We went through years of loss and heartbreak to get to this point and now our little baby girl is here. I want to thank everyone for their well wishes, thoughts and prayers and our doctors and nurses who have walked along side us in this process. I know that we are going to love this little girl, and I am so thankful that she is ours.” The full version of Heather and Joe Nichols’ story is available at, "More Than A Nichols Worth". Congratulations to the couple on the birth of baby Dylan! Photos below: PR Photos, "More Than a Nichols Worth" *Not crazy about the baby's name, but, they like it. Joe's a sweetheart! Met him on a couple of occasions. The baby looks just like him. He does have an older daughter from another relationship. They discussed everything on GAC's Backstory back in May, 2012, but, it re-airs occasionally.* |
